GOLETA, CA—Celebrated wine writer and blogger, the affable Alder Yarrow, was in attendance at World Of Pinot Noir, March 6-7 at Bacara Resort, to sign copies of his new 150-page hardcover coffee table book “The Essence of Wine”. This book is truly something different and I was immediately drawn to its theme as well as its beautiful design. His angle is to examine 47 of the essential aromas and flavors found in wine. His descriptions are compact and accompanied by the stunning photographs of award-winning food photographer Leigh Beisch. He then follows each description by recommending wines to buy that smell or taste of that essence. A very refreshing idea!
This is an ideal gift for the wine lover in your life. Interestingly, the book was 100% funded through his Kickstarter campaign. Highly recommended. (Also available as an e-book for iPad and Kindle HDX). For more information: http://www.vinography.com/essence_of_wine.html

British wine author and critic Jancis Robinson – “one of the world’s leading writers of educational and encyclopedic material on wine” – was on hand to moderate a Friday morning seminar titled “Latitudes and Longitudes”.
Also broadcasting from the event were beloved Central Coast radio personalities Adam Montiel and Jeremy West (aka Cork Dorks), as heard on The Krush 92.5 “the Perfect Blend”. In edition to being entertaining and top-tier broadcasters, Adam and Jeremy are wonderful guys. I’m a BIG fan. Their program is a local favorite with winemakers and visitors alike.
